Papa Casalo offers a variety of fishing and boat trips with craftmanship and excellent service. Despite their young age, skippers have over a decade of experience in fishing and fishing tourism.
For decades, the Black River has been one of the most famous places in the world for marlin fishermen. The old fishing village has grown thanks to tourism but is still calmer than the tourist centers of the northern part of the island. The fishing boats leave the sea every morning for the dream of the biggest catch of their life. Blue marlin is the largest and most prestigious, but it is possible to fish many different species of fish in the waters of Mauritius all season
Flexibility and versatility are at the heart of our service. Whether it's a two-hour snorkeling trip or an all-day fishing trip seeking marlin, tuna, bonito or dorado, we can fulfill your wish.
Our home port, Black River, is located on the west coast of the island of Mauritius. According to the desired fish species, wind and other conditions, the fishing trips take place in the sea area between Flic-en-Flac and Le Morne. Snorkeling and dolphin trips take place mainly off the Black River.

Meeting at 06:50 for a briefing session. We then embark at 07:00, and it’s breakfast time; hot tea or coffee, soft drinks and a light breakfast for the trip. While we find the best place to fish, you will thread the lines to do trolling and start fishing. If any bonito fishes are caught, you’ll use them as baits - living baits will highly increase your chance of catching a marlin. After the fishing session, you will go back to the embarkation point. (Time depends on the slots chosen by the client)
*The good news? You can go home with 10% of our catch (if any)
Meeting at 06:50 for a briefing session. We then embark at 07:00, and you can have a hot tea or coffee. We will sail to find our dolphin friends. You will have the amazing opportunity to admire them, take memorable photos with those creatures, and last but not least, swim with them. Before heading to the embarkation point, you will also feed zebra fishes. (Time depends on the slots chosen by the client)
Meeting at 05:50 for a briefing session. Embarkation at 06:10. On the way, you will prepare the wafers and the bait. You will also be served a light breakfast with tea and coffee. As soon as we find the ideal spot, you can start fishing. When we’re done, we will go back to the embarkation point. (Time depends on the slots chosen by the client)
*Note that the clients can bring their own equipment if they want. If, instead, they decide to use our equipment, they will be given 2 baits only. An additional fee of Rs100/bait will be charged if the bait is damaged/broken.
Meeting at 06:50 for a briefing session. Embarkation at 07:00. We will sail to find the dolphin spot, and there, you’ll do snorkeling with these amazing creatures. At 10:00, we will visit the famous Crystal Rock where you can have a unique swim in the natural blue of the sea. At 11:00, we will head towards “Île aux Bénitiers” where you’ll be served some refreshments. Visit the beautiful island and take some time to relax under the sun. Lunch will be served at 12:30 and you can enjoy the island until 14:00. We will then go back to the embarkation point, the heart filled with memories.
Meeting at 17:00 for a briefing session. Embarkation at 17:10. We will head to the Black River pass. Champagne and snacks will be served while you enjoy the mesmerising show happening in front of you. Get your cameras ready, you’re in for a great time with your loved ones.
